Half of Chenango’s voters turned out

NORWICH – An average of 50 percent of Chenango County’s registered voters came to the polls this month, according to numbers released Friday by elections commissioners.
“The turnout was better than it has been in a while, especially for a non-presidential year. All of the towns seemed to come out to vote,” said Republican Commissioner Harriet Jenkins.
The Board of Elections reported 28,481 registered voters; 14,307 voted on Nov. 2.
In the New York State race for governor, voters in the following districts were in favor of the winner, Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat: Bainbridge 1,2; Greene 2,3,4; Guilford 1,2; New Berlin 1,2; North Norwich 1,2; McDonough; Oxford 2,3; Otselic 1; all six wards of the City of Norwich; Town of Norwich 1,2,3; Pharsalia; Preston; Sherburne 1; Smithville 2; and Smyrna.
The following would have elected the Republican, Carl P. Paladino for governor: Afton 1,2; Columbus; Coventry; German; Greene 1; Lincklaen; Oxford 1; Pitcher; Plymouth; Sherburne 2,3; Smithville 1.
