B-G/Afton 45 Union-Endicott 29
AFTON – B-G/Afton won its second dual meet in as many days, and dealt Union-Endicott its first loss of the season on Wednesday.
The Bears, loaded in the lower middle weights, won the last four matches to erase a 29-24 Tigers lead. “It’s a nice win for us, and I have a lot of respect for U-E’s program,” said Bears coach Brandon MacNaught. “We have to shuffle our guys around a lot in duals, and to make our best lineup we have to slide people way up. It’s what we have to do to give ourselves a chance to win.”
Wayne Cirigliano (125) pinned Thomas Babcock to give B-G/A a one-point lead, Jesse Griswold (130) won by decision, four-time Section IV champion Danny Gormley (135) needed 65 seconds to dispatch his U-E foe, and Cory Burnett (140) finished off the win with a fall.
Tuesday, B-G/A only lost one match that was contested on the mat to blow out Sidney, 62-24.
The Bears (2-0) are at Johnson City on Wednesday.
