Change in leadership at CIT

NORWICH – The operations director and principal psychologist at Valley Ridge Center For Intensive Treatment was recently transferred.
Fred Barnes of Preston, who has been the directing psychologist at the facility since 2005, is now principal psychologist at the Broome Developmental Disabilities Services’ Local Intensive Treatment facility in Binghamton.
The Broome DDSO took over operations and management control of Valley Ridge last year. Both are under the auspices of the New York State Department of Health’s Office for People With Developmental Disabilities.
Valley Ridge Board of Visitors President Steve Bernardi said last week that he was aware of the pending management change. The BOV is charged with monitoring developments at the maximum security facility on Upper Ravine Road in Norwich.
Broome Deputy Director AnneMarie Peterson has taken over the day-to-day operations at Valley Ridge. Peterson started with the state health department in 1998 as a Medicaid service coordinator in Chenango County and in August 2001 was one of the first 15 employees at Valley Ridge.
Peterson was previously the director of the autism program at the Capital District DDSO, and in September 2009 became the director of quality assurance. In February 2010, she was sent to Broome to work on quality assurance and was named the Deputy Director of Administrative Support Services and ICF (intensive care facility) programs there in August 2010.
