Norwich 51, Susquehanna Valley 34
NORWICH – Norwich came out like gangbusters in the opening quarter building an 18-5 lead, and it kept the double-digit margin the rest of the way to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Hannah Runyon had 14 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists for the Tornado, who led by 18 at halftime.
We came out just blazing,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett. “We were creating turnovers all over the place, and on offense, we had the best ball movement that I’ve seen in two years. (Susquehanna Valley) did a good job of fighting back in the third quarter, but we were able to settle down and play better defense in the fourth.”
The Sabers banked in two three-pointers in the third quarter and came as close as 13 points. “I think we were a little frustrated by what happened in the third quarter,” Bennett said.
Norwich substituted freely throughout the fourth quarter, and again built the lead back up to nearly 20 points. Hailey Dietrich added four steals and five rebounds for Norwich, who play Johnson City on Wednesday.
