Norwich scout earns Eagle rank

NORWICH – Local Troop 63 of the Boy Scouts of American held a traditional Eagle Scout Court of Honor Dec. 19 at the United Church of Christ, 11 West Main St., in recognition of Nicholas McCullough, the local troop’s most recent member to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

McCullough first joined Pack 63 as a Bear Cub Scout in the third grade and earned his Arrow of Light Award prior to his completion of the fifth grade, according to Troop 63 Scoutmaster Dan Pfeifer, the highest award an individual Cub Scout can receive.

In 2004, McCullough officially joined the ranks of Troop 63 as a full-fledged Boy Scout and spent the next six years earning the required 21 Merit Badges necessary for promotion to the rank of Eagle Scout.
