Greene FD’s quick response halts structure fire

GREENE – The Greene Fire Department responded to a garage fire about a mile outside of the village Thursday and was able to put the flames out quickly, saving the structure.

Firemen responded at around 10:15 a.m. Thursday after the home owner, Phil Lord, called 911 to report his garage had caught fire at 671 State Highway 206 in the Town of Greene.

The first four-man crew of volunteers arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later in the 213 Fire Engine and heavy smoke could be seen pouring from the two-story garage’s windows.
