Greene 54, Deposit 46
GREENE – Greene climbed out of an eight-point hole in the second quarter scoring a season-high 54 points against Deposit Wednesday night.
Caitlin Gorton scored a career-high 21 points for the Trojans (4-5), 18 of those markers coming in the second half. Andrea Day had three baskets in the final quarter finishing with 13 points.
The Trojans worked their way back into a 23-23 tie at halftime as Rebecca Smith scored all seven of her points in the second, and Shannon Gregory had five of her seven. “We executed pretty well, but had trouble shooting at times, particularly the first half,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “The nice thing was we had different girls scoring for us in different quarters.
“We had more assists than turnovers and had 16 offensive rebounds, yet we still had a close game. Deposit banked in some shots and gained some confidence. All of a sudden we found ourselves in a dogfight.”
