NORWICH – Thymely Treasures gift shop, 1 South Broad St., will hold its first Shopping Cart Challenge from Jan. 19 to 21 to benefit Catholic Charities’ Roots and Wings program.

Patrons of the unique gift and home decor store who donate a non-perishable food item will then have an opportunity to reach into a special “coupon grab-bag,” according to Thymely Treasures owner Susan Wood. Inside, they’ll find a number of discounts, ranging from 10 to 50 percent off their next purchase.

Thanks to her prior experience in human services, Wood said she’s quite familiar with the needs of local food pantries such as Roots and Wings, and she’d like to make this a yearly event.

“I know that they tend to run low this time of year and I thought this would be the best way to help them stock their shelves a little,” she added.
