HARPURSVILLE – Harpursville senior Hannah Kimmel scored 36 points, and passed the Section IV scoring record Wednesday night against Unadilla Valley.
Kimmel needed 25 points to top the record, and had 19 in the opening quarter as UV trailed 28-9. “She came down the floor and went to the bucket, and we couldn’t stop her,” said UV coach Brandi Backus. “She was going to get her points tonight.”
Jordan Anderson scored 21 for UV and Amanda Off had 16. The Storm outscored Harpursville, 29-26 in the second half. “This was probably Jordan’s best game of the year, and Amanda did a good job,” Backus said.
Kimmel has 2,217 career points passing Candor’s Megan Shay, who had 2,205.
UV hosts Oxford Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Amber Monroe and Hope Reynolds scored seven points apiece for the Vikings. “I think we learned a lot from this game,” said OV coach Ron Graham. “When teams do different things against us, we have to recognize it. We’re getting there, but we have a ways to go.”
OV plays DeRuyter next Tuesday.

Jesse Griswold (135) stuck Mike Newman, Jamie Griswold (140) followed with a fall, and Cory Burnett won with a third-period pin. Later in the match, Daren Terpstra moved up two weight classes to earn a 3-0 decision over Cody LaFever at 171 pounds. “Terpstra did a nice job, and it’s a luxury for us to have him, Dakota Vandermark, and Paul Parsons,” said Bears coach Brandon MacNaught. “They’re all such good athletes, and we can shuffle them around (in our lineup) from 145 pounds up to 171.”
B-G/A is at the CNY Tournament hosted by Vernon-Verona-Sherrill on Saturday, and hosts Greene on Tuesday in a pivotal Midstate Athletic Conference duel.
