Chobani launches new flavors
COLUMBUS – Good news, Chobani lovers! Agro Farma, the Chenango County producers of the popular Greek-style yogurt, launched three new flavors of the all natural, protein-rich cultured dairy product - black cherry, mango and lemon.
The flavors, which will soon be appearing on super market shelves across the country, bring the number of Chobani varieties available to 14. The brand is currently the number one brand of yogurt in the Northeast, and the number one Greek-style yogurt in the United States.
In addition, the company has re-launched its Chobani Champions line which initially debuted in early 2010. The new Champions, which are sold in four-packs, come in two flavors - Honey-Nana and VeryBerry - and are packaged in 100 calorie servings in 3.5-ounce cups.
“The launch of Chobani Champions embodies our heartfelt belief that if you give kids delicious foods that are also good for them, they will gladly raise a spoon and dig in,” Agro Farma Founder Hamdi Ulakaya said, in a press statement issued by the company this week. “The product name celebrates the potential of every child to be a champion in his or her own right.”
In South Edmeston, the company’s new 150,000 square foot refrigerated warehouse is moving closer to completion every day. According to Vice President of Operations Keven Bucklin, product began moving into warehouse shortly after the first of the year and will soon begin shipping out of the building, which will become Agro Farma’s national distribution hub. Currently, the company distributes its product from a warehouse it leases in the Albany area.
The new warehouse, which cost roughly $22 million, is part of a two-year $100 million capital investment Ulukaya announced in August. The company currently employs over 300 workers and continues to grow its workforce.
