Police looking for hit and run suspect
NORWICH – The Norwich City Police are asking for help finding a hit and run driver who left the scene of an accident along West Main Street Monday.
Police responded at 10:41 p.m. to 58 West Main St. and discovered a parked silver car had been struck by a suspected silver colored pick-up last seen heading up West Hill in the direction of County Route 10A.
Police said the car was struck with a such a high degree of force in the posted 30 mile per hour zone that it was severely damaged and pushed onto the lawn of a nearby residence. They believe the pick-up truck suffered significant damage to its front and right side.
Officer Thomas Miller said police recovered debris at the scene from the pick-up that investigators hoped will lead to an arrest.
Miller said they observed a suspicious silver/white-colored pick truck making a turn from South Broad St. on to West Main St. just before the accident occurred. Miller also reported the vehicle is seen on surveillance cameras coming to a stop at a green light intersection before turning.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 334-2424.
