Agro Farma, YMCA and Millennia Entertainment team-up for Chobani Champions Day
NORWICH – Partnered with Agro-Farma – the local producers of Chobani Greek Yogurt – and Millennia Entertainment, the Norwich Family YMCA will host the first Chobani Champions Day this weekend.
Billed as an opportunity to promote health and fitness for today’s children, the free event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the North Broad Street YMCA.
“This is a great partnership between the YMCA and Agro-Farma,” said Millennia Entertainment owner Terry Potter. “Both try to promote better living and encourage children, and families as a whole, to be healthy.”
Participating children will be broken up into two groups – ages two to seven and eight to twelve – and once checked-in will receive a specialized “bingo” card. Once the competition begins, children will hustle to a number of Chobani Yogurt Flavor Stations located throughout the YMCA. There, they’ll complete an activity – such as two “verry berry” laps around the children’s gym – and have their card stamped.
The first child in each age group to have their card completely stamped will be named the 2011 Chobani Champion and receive a T-shirt and free case of Chobani Champions Greek Yogurt for kids.
“This is a really great event, not only because it involves a large number of children and promotes exercise, but it’s coming along during a time of year where children especially need something to do,” stated Millennia Entertainment events coordinator Jill Kraft. “This will get kids out and get kids active.”
There will be plenty of bottled water, fresh fruit and, of course, tasty yogurt for the children to enjoy following the day’s activities, added Kraft, and those who pre-register will receive a special “goody bag” when they check in.
“Exercise is a major part of staying healthy and we wanted to give kids in Chenango County an afternoon where they can be active but at the same time have fun too,” said Chobani Greek Yogurt Events Coordinator Cassie Stanton.
