Five local wrestlers receive at-large bids to state tourney
ALBANY – The New York State Wrestling Tournament announced its at-large wild-card selections Wednesday morning. At-large selections will join sectional champions to complete brackets in each respective weight class.
Chenango County’s area schools received five of Section IV’s seven Division II picks. Joining the tournament field are Frankie Garcia (119), Norwich; Paul Parsons (160), B-G/Afton, and Greene’s Mike Beckwith (145), Kurt Shear (189), and Kyle Stanton (215).
Additionally, three athletes will serve as alternates to the tournament field. Those include Joe Nelson (96) of Oxford, Dan Dickman (140) of Greene, and Daren Terpstra (152) of B-G/Afton.
