Spirit Week Talent Show will feature the best NHS has to offer
NORWICH – Following two days of Spirit Week competition at NHS, the seniors and freshmen of the Purple Team seem poised for yet another victory this year. The week-long battle between the Purple Team and the juniors and sophomores of the White Team is far from over though – as of Tuesday afternoon less than ten points separated the two teams.
Yesterday found members of both teams partnering-up and dressing as “twin-like” as possible for Twin Day – all for a chance earn additional spirit points – while today found students roaming the halls doing their best to imitate a favorite celebrity for Celebrity Look-Alike Day.
The entertainment will only get better come Thursday, however, as contestants at the Spirit Week Talent Show prepare to take the stage in support of their team.
While last year’s Talent Show featured primarily musical acts, this year will see a number of dancers and other performers as well, said senior Frank Somich, who coordinated the event.
Vocalists Jessica Lerner, Shelby Condon, Francis Robles and Olivia Adams; dancers Darby Dietrich and Robert Jeffrey and bands While Cities Sleep, The Beasts of Burden, Break, The Society of Righteous and Harmonious Fifths and Silence Our Sound will take the stage for a chance at first, second or third prize – not to mention some much-needed points for their team.
Also performing will be Tom Kalicicki and Ashlee Zammiello with their respective bands, the vocal-guitar duet of Dillan Smith and Tori Giglio, pianist and vocalist Breanna Guiffre and beat-boxer Ben Sims.
The Spirit Week Talent Show is open to the public and will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium. Admission is $2 and a portion of the proceeds will go to help the people of earthquake and tsunami-ravaged Japan.
