Spirit Week at NHS took an unexpected turn on Wednesday as the juniors and sophomores of the White Team – widely regarded as a major underdog going into the competition – took a 30-point lead over the seniors and freshmen of the Purple Team.

According to Pep Club advisor Lansing Dimon, the White Team has built-up a sizable advantage mid-way through the competition with a score of 261 to the Purple’s 231. He did note, however, that there’s plenty of time remaining for a Purple Team comeback, especially with tonight’s Talent Show and Friday’s Pep Rally and Spirit Night still to come.

Sixteen competitors will perform at the 7:30 p.m. Talent Show – to be held tonight in the high school auditorium – and Student Government Treasurer Frank Somich said he expects a large turnout. The show is open to the public and admission is $2.

“It was cool to see the auditorium so packed last year and hopefully it’s the same this time around, last year was amazing,” said Somich, who will be performing with his band While Cities Sleep. “It’s nice to see how unique each act is and there’s a lot of hidden talent that should be a lot of fun to watch.”
