Greene Chamber’s business showcase to be “A Night at the Races”

GREENE – On an ordinary day, people would have a hard time mistaking the Genegantslet Golf Club for the Kentucky Derby, Preakness or Belmont Stakes. But next Friday, that might not be the case. According to organizers, fans of the Triple Crown will feel right at home that night, when the Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce host its Business Showcase, “A Night at the Races.”
The event will take place 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 1, according to GGCC Executive Director Grace Benkovitz.
For businesses, the event presents a chance to promote the goods and services they provide. For community members, a chance to see what those companies have to offer and, as the name implies, enjoy a night at the races.
Tickets to the event are $20 in advance and $22 at the door.
“The admission cost includes food and a Horse Racing BINGO card with the opportunity to win one of 12 races - the grand prize drawing being a 32-inch flat screen TV,” reported Benkovitz.
The event will feature a number of other games and prizes as well, including roulette. Radio personality Big Wally will be the evening’s host.
“Come and meet these businesses and spend the evening enjoying food, races, other games and prizes,” the chamber executive said.
According to Benkovitz, a number of businesses have already signed on to sponsor the event. Those sponsors include Tri-County Collision and Sensible Car Rental, McKinney Real Estate, The Raymond Corporation, Najarian Family Chiropractic, Nathanael Greene’s Publick House, John Carlin of The Partners Insurance and Financial Services, Empire Natural Gas Corporation, Wrench’s Village Auto Service, Curtis Lumber, Focus Salon & Wellness Boutique and Sidney Federal Credit Union. NBT Bank, Tim Heatherman Construction and Edward Jones Investments are also participating.
Additional sponsorship opportunities exist, she said, including one at the Tier 1 level. At that level, sponsors receive 10 event tickets, a private table for guests, the chance to name one of the horse races and a display table during the business showcase for their contribution of $170. They must also donate a prize valued at $50 for “their” race.
Tier II and III sponsorships are also available, ranging from $90 to $105 plus prizes of a certain value. To become a sponsor, contact Benkovitz at 656-8225.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from Teal Gaylord of The Raymond Corporation, Sherry Guiles of McKinney Real Estate and Nancy Kemmeter of NBT, as well as from Benkovitz.
