Police arrest woman for stealing a purse from a Walmart customer
NORWICH – A 25-year-old Sidney woman was charged with stealing more than $3,000 from a Walmart customer Saturday, a day after the New York State Police released surveillance images of her leaving the store and asked the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Investigator Jason Besset said officers were contacted by an individual who recognized the woman and called in a confidential tip that eventually led to her arrest within 24 hours of the picture’s release.
Police said Jenessa M. Hoehl, of 820 Circle Drive, Sidney, stole a customer’s purse inside the Walmart store in the Town of Norwich and fled the scene. Besset said credit cards, cash and other items in the purse were worth more than $3,000.
