Harlem Rockets vs. Oxford Hot Shots this Friday
OXFORD – The Harlem Rockets comedy basketball team is playing against the Oxford Hot Shots at the Oxford Academy High School gymnasium on Friday at 7 p.m. This family entertainment is a fundraiser sponsored by the Oxford Community Youth Center (OCYC) and After School Program (ASP). The very talented Rockets are getting ready to blast into Oxford for an outstanding show and a memorable, fun-filled night for the community.
For this special event, Oxford’s own dream team, the Oxford Hot Shots, have graciously agreed to play the Harlem Rockets. The Hot Shots are local talents that include faculty from all three Oxford schools, support staff, and a few fearless volunteers from the Oxford Fire Department. The Hot Shots members’ basketball prowess is as varied as their backgrounds, but the bravery of our local heroes will carry them to the hardwood floor to face their ‘leggy’ competition. How will they do against the fancy footwork and trickery of their hoopster foes? The only way to see who will prevail is to be there that Friday night.
The Harlem Rockets have played undefeated, in over 2,500 games, over the past 16 years. Sports enthusiasts will be intrigued by the athleticism and size of the Rockets. The Harlem Rockets incorporate the audience, especially children, into the show and are always available to meet the fans and give autographs at halftime and after the game. They put on a show in the same vein as the Harlem Globetrotters, with plenty of basketball showboating and crowd interaction.
