NBT, Frontier sponsor Commerce Chenango’s 52nd Annual Dinner

NORWICH – Commerce Chenango has announced the recipients of the 2011 awards to be presented at the 52nd Annual Dinner on Wednesday at the Silo Restaurant in Greene. Sidney Federal Credit Union will receive the Distinguished Business of the Year Award, and Dave Burrell will be the recipient of the Commitment to Community award.
The Distinguished Business of the Year Award will be presented to Sidney Federal Credit Union. This award recognizes a business organization that has shown consistent growth over a period of time; is considered a leader in their industry; makes continuous improvements to quality and innovation; and has made significant contributions to our community and its economy. Notably, the 2011 Distinguished Business of the Year has provided 62 years of innovation, leadership and reliability.
Sidney Federal Credit Union was originally chartered in January 1949, initially serving employees of Scintilla Magneto Company. They currently have over 46 thousand members and offer financial services from eight locations to those who live or work in Otsego, Chenango or Delaware Counties and the Town of Colesville.
The organization as a whole embraces opportunities to be a part of the communities they serve, and SFCU employees are affiliated with numerous local boards and organizations that contribute to the quality of life in our communities.
Most recently SFCU held an official ribbon cutting ceremony for their new headquarters at 42 Union Street in Sidney. Their new headquarters incorporates many environmentally friendly and energy efficient features and is now in a better position to serve their members and have the capacity for growth in future years.
The Commitment to Community award is given annually to an individual who has shown significant commitment to their community through their leadership as well as individual contributions. Commerce Chenango’s recipient, Dave Burrell, was nominated for this award due to his distinctive ability to make a difference for residents and visitors alike. Commerce Chenango’s recipient David Burrell has achieved a great deal as an entrepreneur and volunteer.
His commitment to improve and grow our local economy is a constant factor when it comes to his time and services. His energy is contagious and shows in every project he takes on, whether it’s for one of our major festivals or events such as the Pumpkin Festival, or for support of area youth organizations.
Generosity, loyalty and determination are all qualities that Dave exemplifies. He is unquestionably an individual that continues to improve Chenango County’s quality of life and we are privileged to have him as a part of our community.
