Police make second round of arrests at same house
NORWICH – Two more people have been arrested in a city drug bust case that originated with a call to a police tips line last week.
Last Wednesday afternoon, police responded to information left on the department’s TIPS line (336-8477) and arrested Rhonda L. Hernandez, 23, of 115 Rexford St. She was charged with five counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and reported seizing a number of drugs and paraphernalia from the home.
After arresting Hernandez and executing a search warrant, police returned to the residence again on Thursday to locate a second suspect in the case and said they discovered two people there in possession of more drugs.
At about 1 p.m. Thursday, officers arrested Justin C. Harrington, 23, of 115 Rexford St. He is charged with first degree criminal nuisance, a class E felony. The charge alleges Harrington provided or maintained a premises for the purpose of selling controlled substances.
“Our investigation leads us to believe that if Justin wasn’t directly involved with the sales of controlled substances, he at the very least assisted others in their possession and sales from his residence in the trailer park,” said Police Chief Joseph Angelino.
An additional subject was arrested at the same time at the Rexford Street trailer – Curissa M. Jenkins, 22, of 35 Greene Street, Oxford. She is charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class B felonies. Angelino said officers found prepackaged heroin and cocaine on Jenkins.
Both were arraigned in Norwich City Court. Jenkins was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and Harrington on $20,000 cash bail.
