Easter Egg Hunt moves to fairgrounds this year

NORWICH – This Saturday, thousands of brightly-colored eggs will be hidden away at the Chenango County Fairgrounds for Norwich’s annual Easter Egg hunt.
The event is sponsored by the Maydole Hose Company, the Norwich Business Improvement District and the Norwich Merchants Association.
Rain or shine, the Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10 a.m. for ages up to four years old and at 10:15 a.m. for ages 5 to 8.
Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo said organizers will be hiding more than 4,000 eggs at the fairgrounds.
Eggs will be filled with candy and prizes and there will also be two special eggs with tickets for new bicycles, courtesy of the Maydole Hose Company. There will also be a special guest visitor for the egg hunt, the Easter Bunny.
Several Merchants Association businesses are involved with hiding eggs with special discounts, prizes and coupons for participants.
All egg hunt participants must bring their own baskets and cameras for pictures with the Easter Bunny.
The Easter Egg Hunt has traditionally been held in East and West Parks in downtown Norwich, but Chawgo said it was moved to the fairgrounds on East Main Street to avoid potential scheduling conflicts with planned construction and renovations at the two parks.
