Hanrahan had a two-out triple in the opening inning to score Taylor Ellis, and the junior pitcher finished 3-for-4. Caitlin Willis and Brittany Youngs each had 2-for-4 days with a run scoresd apiece.
Hanrahan struck out eight, did not walk a batter, and allowed one hit in the opening inning. “We’re hitting the ball better early in games better than we have the last couple of years,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “The offense and defense are jelling pretty well right now.”

CHENANGO FORKS – Greene gave up seventh-inning leads to lose its two previous games. The Trojans scored three insurance runs in the top of the seventh, and needed all of them as Forks’ rally in their final at-bat came up one run short Wednesday. “This was good for us, especially after losing leads in the seventh the last two games,” said Greene coach Steve Burghardt. “We turned the lineup over quite a bit and we hope to get some good games in next week.”
The Trojans erased a 4-1 deficit scoring seven times in the fifth. Alex Leone had a two-run single to key the inning, and Jeff Carlin finished the frame with an RBI single. Leone, a sophomore lead-off hitter, had two hits and reached base safely in all five of his trips to the plate. Carlin went 4-for-5. Cole Browning and Korbin Neudel, the eight and nine hitters in the Greene batting order, each had a pair of basehits.
Matt Jones came on in relief in the fourth inning for Carlin to pick up the victory.
