OWEGO – In a battle of STAC Central Division leaders Monday, Owego’s first doubles team, Joshua Fisher and Matt Wieckhorst, overcame a 10-9 super tiebreaker match point deficit in the final set to defeat Norwich Roman Cwynar and Sal Cole, 0-6, 6-1, 12-10.

The victory also clinched the Indians’ victory, and dealt Norwich its first loss in four matches this season. “To be where we are right now, challenging for the division, is pretty exciting,” said Norwich coach John Stewart, who noted that Owego beat his team 6-1 and 7-0 last season. “Owego is the division favorite, but we have them again at our place later this season.
