Who will be the next Chenango County Dairy Princess?

CHENANGO COUNTY – The reign of 2010 Dairy Princess Megan Brandt will come to a close next month and Chenango County’s Dairy Princess Committee is in search of a successor to her crown.

“We are seeking candidates for princess and dairy ambassadors,” said Terry Ives, who chairs the Chenango County Dairy Promotion Committee and, along with Marge Davis, oversees the Dairy Princess Program.

Since 1963, a fresh-faced, farm girl wearing the Chenango County Dairy Princess crown and sash has served as the chief ambassador of the county’s largest industry.

“A candidate must have a sincere desire to promote dairy products and be a user of REAL dairy products,” Ives said. They must also be willing to spread the word about the benefits of dairy at meetings and events around the county. Because, as the wholesome representative for the local dairy industry, the reigning princess’ duties include gracing parade floats, educating children about agriculture and serving milk punch at countless meetings and events.
