Community Expo and Job Fair this weekend
NORWICH – Area businesses, non-profits and other community groups will showcase their products and services this weekend during the 2011 Chenango County Community Expo and Job Fair.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at The Giant’s Warehouse, 5176 County Road 32 in Norwich.
“Come and see what is in your back yard,” invites Kerri Green of Celebration Creations, the Sidney-based wedding and event planning firm which is coordinating the event in conjunction with sponsors Smith Ford LLC/The Giant’s Warehouse, Manpower and the Central New York Radio Group.
More than 30 area businesses and organizations will be exhibiting this weekend representing a cross section of what Chenango County has to offer. According to Green, those exhibitors include everything from home improvement-related companies, banks and financial institutions, colleges and continuing education opportunities, not-for-profits and companies providing an array of other products and services.
In addition, two area restaurants will be selling food at the event - Hoppies and Nathanael Greene’s.
And she has good news for job seekers.
“Almost everyone is looking for employees,” the event organizer reported.
A live radio remote by sponsor Central New York Radio will add excitement to the day from 11 a.m. too 1 p.m.
Local business people will have a chance to pre-view the expo during a special Business After Hours-style reception catered by Fred’s Inn from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday.
“It’s open to everyone,” Green said, explaining that the focus will be on business to business networking. Anyone interested in attending is asked to pre-register on the Celebration Creations website, www.celebration-creations.net.
While pre-registration isn’t required for the Saturday event, a number of people have already done so.
“I’m really excited to see the community come out and support (the event),” she said, explaining that the event is the first of its kind to be held in Chenango in several years.
