Perkins dancers take titles at competition

BINGHAMTON – A group of sixty dancers from the award-winning Perkins School of the Arts participated in the American Dance Awards’ regional competition May 13-15 in Binghamton.

Taking the highest ranking title awards were Lane deCordova of Norwich, Female Dancer of Year, for her solo “Golden Girl;” Lucas Lyons of New Berlin, Teen Male Dancer of the Year, for his solo “Within;” and Blake Zelesnikar of Johnson City, who won Male Dancer of the Year title for his solo, “Hallelujah.” All three winning solos were choreographed by Amber Perkins.

This year’s title winners are invited to dance off for national title at the American Dance Awards upcoming competition in Boston. ADA is known as one of the original, largest and most respected national dance championships in the country. The competition draws participants from throughout the United States and Canada.
