Seats still available for Hall of Fame banquet
NORWICH – Seats are still available for the inaugural Norwich Sports Hall of Fame banquet, but spots are filling up quickly, said HOF committee person, Mark Abbott.
The banquet, scheduled Saturday, June 18 at Canasawacta Country Club, will feature inductees Tommy Manning, Sal “Toots” Mirabito, Doc Ulrichs, Ed Ackley, Kurt Beyer, Jason Morris, Katie Almeter, and the state championship basketball teams of 1992-’93 and 1993-’94.
Inductees and their family members have already reserved many seats, and the capacity at C.C.C. is limited. “There seems to have been some confusion about the process of obtaining reservations,” Abbott said. “It’s not invitation-only, and we aren’t selling tickets. We are taking paid reservations, and that can be done through Shelly Alger at the Norwich High School athletics office.”
Abbott said a spot cannot be reserved until payment is made. “The reservations are really first-come, first-served. We’d hate to see anyone truly interested in coming to the induction ceremony not get a seat because they didn’t understand the reservation process.”
Alger may be reached at 607-334-1600, extension 1136. The reservation price is $30 per person. Reserving entire tables is also an option, Abbott said.
“This being the first year of the Hall of Fame, we’re very excited about it,” Abbott said, speaking on behalf of the Hall of Fame committee. “A lot of work has gone into planning this event over the past year.”
