West Park flag missing

NORWICH – The American flag which normally flies proudly over West Park in Norwich has gone missing.
“We know the West Park U.S. flag was in place on Memorial Day at 12 noon because that is the prescribed time to move the flag from half-staff to full staff,” reported Norwich Police Chief Joe Angelino. It was noticed missing the following morning.
According to Angelino, video from the city’s downtown cameras has already been reviewed and the investigation is ongoing.
According to Chenango County Director of Public Facilities Julie Gates, the flag measures 10 by 15 feet and is valued at $210.38.
Anyone with information regarding the flag should contact the Norwich City Police Department at 334-1212 or use the anonymous TIPS line, 336-TIPS (8477).
