Blarney Stone Pub wins SBA Small Business Excellence Award
NORWICH – The Blarney Stone Pub, Inc. was honored recently with an SBA Small Business Excellence Award at the DoubleTree Hotel in East Syracuse. The U.S. Small Business Administration and the New York Business Development Corporation hosted the 13th annual luncheon to recognize the achievements of local small businesses. NBT Bank, N.A. nominated The Blarney Stone Pub, Inc. for the award.
Mike and Sarah Woods saw the potential for success in the hometown bar they bought in 2007. With their combined food service and management experience, the Blarney Stone Pub offers Norwich a fine selection of spirits, food, and live entertainment.
“Thank you Brendan, NBT Bank and the SBA. We’re really proud of this. We’ve come a long ways. It seems like it was just yesterday we were sitting around our hometown bar, thinking this place has been kind of struggling the last couple years and it wouldn’t take much for us to come in and really get something going. In 2007, with a lot of hard work, creativity and passion, we opened the pub and four years later, things are going great and we couldn’t be happier,” said Sarah Woods as she accepted the Excellence Award in front of 260 luncheon attendees.
Small businesses are selected for the Excellence Awards based on their company’s longevity, innovation, sales growth, increased employment, ability to overcome adversity or community contributions.
