New Berlin Police make arrests in tire slashings
NEW BERLIN – Following an investigation into numerous complaints of vehicles with tires slashed in the village on May 28, the New Berlin Police Department has charged three individuals with second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.
Sean R. Leonard, 22, and Travis L. Demuth, 19, both of New Berlin, were remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, while Duane M. Turner, 22, also of New Berlin, was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in court at a later date.
Numerous vehicles’ tires – located in the Preferred Mutual Insurance Company parking lot – were slashed, in addition to cars on Moss, Greene, Genesee and North Main Streets, which were damaged.
