Wild Wheels Weekend to benefit O’Hara family
MT. UPTON – Get ready to have some fun with the whole family this weekend at the Wild Wheels Weekend in Mt. Upton.
Members of the Mt. Upton community have been organizing the charity tractor and truck pull for nearly 10 years to benefit sick children and their families.
All profits from the event will go to the family of Matt O’Hara, who died suddenly in February of this year. The money will go to his wife and three children.
The weekend will feature a “Fun Pull” Friday, with no competition or prizes but as many hooks as you want at $10 a hook. Admission is $2.
Saturday will feature out-of-field tractors in the morning, and trucks and enhanced tractors in the afternoon. Registration for out-of-field begins at 8 a.m., the pull at 10 a.m. Registration for trucks and tractors begins at 4 p.m., the pull begins at 6 p.m.
Sunday is an antique tractor pull. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the pull begins at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday admission is $5. Children under 5 are free.
“We have developed a reputation throughout New York State and other states as having one of the best tracks,” said Beth Musk.
Musk and her husband, Paul, have organized the event since September of 2001. Since then, the length of the track and size of the event have increased.
A pull is an event that depends heavily on the weather in terms of attendance, Musk said, but added that she is hoping for a good turnout this year.
Thirty to 40 local businesses have signed on as sponsors for raffle prizes and monetary donations.
The event has helped several families with medical expenses, including children undergoing cancer treatment and organ transplants.
If you would like to make a donation contact Paul or Beth Musk at 336-7883. For more information about Wild Wheels Weekend visit wildwheelsweekend.com.
