It’s a French expression which means “in the open air,” and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Plein Aire painting sessions will take place every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
The painting schedule for the month of June is as follows:
• June 16: Dr. Bianchi property, 125 Quaker Hill Road, Smyrna
• June 23: Dr. Bianchi property, 125 Quaker Hill Road, Smyrna
• June 30: Diter Farm, Lilly Road, Gilbertsville
Plein Aire Thursdays brings together local and professional artists in an open air setting to create original pieces of work. For more information and directions, call 334-2923.
Plein Aire Thursdays culminates on Oct. 6, during an open reception and auction at Golden Artist Colors. The public will have the opportunity to bid on work produced during the Plein Aire sessions, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival.
