Village of Oxford election results

OXFORD – Oxford residents filtered in and out of the Oxford Fire Station yesterday to vote in the village’s annual election.
Incumbent Democrat Terry M. Stark ran unopposed for the position of mayor. He received 101 votes, to retain the office he has held since 2002.
In a three-way race for two vacant seats on the board of trustees, newcomer John M. O’Connor and incumbent Joseph Spence were victorious. O’Connor, a Republican, received 76 votes; Spence, a Democrat, received 74. Republican Matthew T. Voce was unsuccessful in his bid for reelection, receiving 47 votes.
According to Chenango County Board of Elections Republican Commissioner Harriet Jenkins, 99 people visited the polls yesterday and 7 residents cast absentee ballots. This marks a notable increase over last year, when a total of 58 ballots were cast. The prior year, only 28 voters turned out to the polls.
