Sherburne man arrested for predatory sexual assault

SHERBURNE – A Sherburne man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 two years ago.
The New York State Police arrested 31-year old Charles L. Collins III of Sherburne Wednesday following investigation into an incident which reportedly took place during the summer of 2008 in the Village of Sherburne.
Collins is the owner of Redneck Tattoos in Sherburne.
He is charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, a class A-II felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
He is also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, for allegedly having marijuana on his person at the time of his arrest.
According to the State Police, Collins was in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest and has also been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Following his arrest, Collins was arraigned in Norwich Town Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility where he remains in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
