Oxford voters approve capital project

OXFORD – The Oxford Academy and Central School District has received the approval of its residents to proceed with a proposed $11,316,216 capital project.

The matter was decided Thursday by voter referendum held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oxford High School. According to District Clerk Michele Rice, 213 voted in favor and 109 against the first of two propositions on the ballot. The $10,967,591 project will renovate and refurbish each of the district’s existing structures and athletic fields at the high school.

The second proposition, to construct a $339,625 multipurpose building to replace Blackhawk Stadium’s existing concession stand/press box, also passed with 155 yes votes to 145 no votes.
