UV's Alford throws no-hitter

NEW BERLIN – Mason Alford relied on steady infield defense as he tossed a no-hitter for Unadilla Valley in an 8-1 win over Cobleskill, Thursday in the Otsenango Pony League.
Alford registered five strikeouts and walked just two. He also induced 11 ground-ball outs.
Conor Pope led UV with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Brendan Brooker had two stolen bases and one RBI, Austin Taylor finished with three stolen bases and one run, and Alford helped his own cause scoring twice and steal a pair of bases.
Cobleskill’s lone run came in the third after a walk, a stolen base, and an error.
