Smyrna Citizens Band to hold second summer concert

SMYRNA – The Smyrna Citizens Band will hold its second summer concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the bandstand above the Smyrna Public Library, 7 East Main St.
Monday’s performance will feature a variety of selections, including “A Hot Time in the Brasses Tonight,” “The Red Mill,” “Will You Remember,” “New York Hippodrome March,” “Sunset Soliloquy,” and “The Phantom of the Opera Medley,” as well as others.
According to Smyrna Town Clerk Geraldine Day, there’s “always a variety” with “something for everyone’s enjoyment.”
The annual weekly concerts are made possible through public funds administered by the New York State Council on the Arts and distributed by the Chenango County Council of the Arts, according to Day. Support funds are also received from the Town and Village of Smyrna.
Those attending may bring their own lawn chairs or simply sit in their cars and listen to a diverse group of musicians who love a chance to perform, added Day.
Refreshments will be available from Ope’s Dog Stop and the Methodist Church will be serving homemade pie. For more information contact Day at 627-6269.
