DVD Patrol
The summer is heating up, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is getting pretty busy with more movies coming up. Even meeting up with some neighbors who keep on top of movies just like the Toddster. Hope everyone survived the Gus Macker shindig last week. We have to do what we are the best at. Let’s see what there is.
New on DVD
The Lincoln Lawyer - Everyone does their job in their own way and it works for them. Meet Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey). Mickey was just your average Attorney who wanted to do the job his way so he operates out of the last place you would expect – his car. He pretty much does what he does until he gets the biggest of his career. Mickey sees Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillipe) who has been accused of rape and murder. The counselor does what he does best until there are things about his client he discovers that make him regret taking this case. Now, he has to start watching his own back when Louis starts threatening his family and friends. Louis may have taken on more than he bargained for. Will Mickey find a way to put this latest case away and protect his family at the same time? McConaughey’s next project comes to theaters in “Bernie” later in 2011.
Arthur - There are a few in life who are raised with the privilege of having money. Arthur (Russell Brand) happens to be one of them. He’s had everything catered to him his entire life and he likes to drink a bit too much that often gets him in trouble. Now his Mother wants him to grow up a bit because his family has arranged for him to meet Susan (Jennifer Garner) and get married. The more time Arthur spends with her, the more he knows that she is not the right person for him. Arthur has his eye on a pretty tour guide named Linda (Greta Gerwig). Arthur’s mother finds out about this and gives him a choice. Either he marries Susan and leaves Linda alone or he will cut off with no money? Brand has some great DVD choices out there from the vaults in including “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Hop,” and “Get Him To The Greek” with Jonah Hill.

Rango - Heroes come from the strangest places. Cartoon Spotlight has this latest one with Rango (Johnny Depp). Rango has lived his entire life as a pet and the family he lives with is in the process of moving. During the move, his cage drops out of the truck and he’s stuck in the desert. Our hero meets all kinds of characters in the western town he comes into. Everyone also thinks he has come to apply for the town Sheriff. The little guy accidentally finds a way to stop the Hawk that’s been tracking him and stop one of the locals from shooting him. The local outlaw Rattlesnake Jake (Bill Nighy) has other ideas for him. Jake steals the town’s water supply and wants to take Rango out permanently. With the help of one of the local pioneers named Beans (Isla Fisher), Is Rango going to discover the Spirit of the West to give him the confidence he needs to stop Jake and save the town? Depp has a history of picking offbeat roles. My sources tell me that he has been cast in the role of Tonto for a new version of “The Lone Ranger” and a fifth installment of a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie is in the works.
Insidious - Scary Movie Spotlight finds a way that makes Chlidhood pretty tough. Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renae (Rose Byrne) were a couple of hard working parents who loved their son very much. Strange events begin to happen in their house and at first they think it’s just the house. As time goes by and more facts are found out, it’s not the House that’s causing trouble but it’s seems to be coming from their son. It becomes a race for time to stop whatever force that’s threatening them and their boy. Can they find a way out? Byrne can currently be seen in the new movie “X-Men: First Class” and can also be seen on the show “Damages” starting on Directv coming soon.
Beastly - Time for something for the ladies and this one is our Romantic Spotlight for the week. Kyle Kingston (Alex Pettyfer) has everything going for including good looks and money. Kyle is not your average high school student because he has a way of not treating them very well. This becomes obvious when he asks Kendra (Mary Kate Olsen) out on a date. She’s not sure about this but she goes and Kyle ends being a no show. Kendra also happens to be into witchcraft and she casts a spell on Kyle that changes his appearance. Kendra tells him he has a year to find someone who will love him for what’s inside or he stays he is. Kyle moves to Brooklyn away from everything and everyone he knows. Things start to change when he meets someone in trouble. After helping them, Kyle us asked to take in Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens). Lindy starts to get to know him and Kyle may have found a way out of his curse. What way will Kyle and Lindy end up together? Pettyfer has some other DVDs including “Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker,” “Wild Child,” and “I am Number Four” now in stores.
A lot of movies for this time out. There are a lot of things coming up in the next few weeks. What are they? You’ll just have to wait and see what that is. Even some TV stuff is coming our way and we you don’t have to wait for the fall to see what’s happening. The Toddster will be back.
