Greene FD offers breakfast during planned power outage
GREENE – Village of Greene electric customers will be without power Sunday morning, but that doesn’t mean they’ll have to forgo their morning coffee or a hot breakfast.
The Greene Fire Department will be making use of its generator and will be offering breakfast and coffee to residents from 6 to 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Greene Fire Station, 8 N. Canal Street in Greene. A free will donation will be accepted.
Village residents were notified in June of the planned power outage, which will begin at 5 a.m. and last until approximately 11 a.m. During that time, new poles will be installed. According to Village Clerk Treasurer Christine Pierce, the work is part of the municipal electric department’s efforts to increase the reliability of service by upgrading and replacing aging equipment.
