Norwich clinches pony league division crown

Norwich 21, Edmeston 3
NORWICH – Norwich scored nine runs in the opening inning, and went on to wallop Edmeston last week to clinch the Otsenango Pony League Division A title.
The defending league champions rapped out 29 hits led by Cameron Prime. Prime hit a grand slam in the opening inning, then added a three-run triple in the fourth on his way to driving in eight runs to go with four runs scored. Eight other Norwich players collected at least two hits, and seven scored two or more runs to support winning pitcher Jeremy Fitch.
Josh Haines, John Yacano, Robbie Wheeler, Greg Todd, Cody Barnes, and Derek Manwarren had at least two hits and two runs scored. Cody Graves, and Chris Trevisani also had two hits.
Norwich concludes regular season play tonight when it hosts Sherburne.

Norwich 5, Hamilton 3
HAMILTON – Norwich scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to snap a tie game and defeat Hamilton in Otsenango Pony League play last week.
Prime had an RBI single in the ninth inning to score Josh Haines with the go-ahead run. Robbie Wheeler followed with an RB double to back up his solo home run in the fourth. Derek Manwarren added an RBI single in the fourth.
Prime pitched four scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory.
