Post office employee arrested for swiping money orders

PHARSALIA – An East Pharsalia woman faces felony charges after she allegedly stole over $4,600 in postal money orders from the post office where she worked.

Amanda L. Hamilton, 27, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the crimes, which police say happened over a four month period earlier this year.

According to Lt. Richard Cobb of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton worked as a contract employee at the East Pharsalia Post Office for approximately four years. Between April and July of this year, she is believed to have forged around 15 money orders, stealing approximately $4,640.
