Speed a factor in car vs. tractor cash

SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Police say speed was a factor in a collision between a car and a farm vehicle shortly before 6 p.m. Monday near H-Bar-D Ranch.

According to Lt. Richard Cobb of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, 18-year old Nicole Raymond of Blossville was driving south on Sunset Drive in the Town of New Berlin when she crested a hill and discovered a John Deere tractor towing a New Holland mower coming in the opposite direction.

Cobb said Raymond was “startled” by the sight and reportedly hit the brakes, causing her Dodge to skid into the path of the oncoming tractor, driven by 45-year old Jeff Jeter of Norwich.
