Monday Evening Musical Club begins new season Sept. 12

NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club of Norwich is pleased to announce its 2011-12 concert lineup.
The season starts on Sept. 12, with the Chris Wolf-Gould Ensemble, performing popular jazz standards. The members of the group are Chris Wolf-Gould on bass, Joe Tokarowski on drums, Sal Salvaggio on guitar, and Jen Raphaelson on piano and vocals. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. at United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main Street in Norwich. All Monday Evening Musical Club concerts are free and open to the public; the Club accepts donations, all of which are deposited into its Scholarship Fund.
The season continues on Oct. 3 with a performance by Hooked on Tonics, an a capella vocal group from SUNY Oneonta. The group is led by President Jackie Zopf, Musical Directors Ryan Quinn and Phil Kitain, and faculty advisor Paul Carter. Membership is determined by audition. This will be their first performance for Music Club.
The Nov. 7 program is the annual Club members/Area Music Teachers performance; the next scheduled program is the March 12 annual Music in Our Schools Month concert. The April 2 offering is an evening of poetic folk and folk-rock with Rabbit in the Rye, led by Joe Mettler. In May, the Advanced Students/Scholarship Winners program will be held on the 21st. The final concert, on June 4, is TBA.
The Monday Evening Musical Club is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to presenting the highest quality performances to the public, at no charge. Its mission is also to encourage students to pursue music as a career, and each concert serves as a fundraiser for the annual scholarship. Scholarship auditions are held each year and all Chenango County music students are invited to apply.
