DVD Patrol

Things seem to be getting a little brighter, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is finally here for fall and this weekend is the Colorscape Festival in Norwich. The Toddster will paying a visit to The Evening Sun team and readers on Saturday after noon. Found a few things for everyone to watch. What do you say we take a look and see if anyone has something they want to see.

New on DVD

X-Men: First Class - Friendships all start somewhere and rivalries start this way too. Charles Xavier (James Mcavoy) and Erik Lensherr (Micheal Fassbender) meet under some unusual circumstances and find they are on the same mission. It seems Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) is trying to pit the United States and Russia against one another and Shaw has recruited his own team of Mutants to help him with it. Charles and Erik decide to fight fire with fire and find their own team to stop them. Beginning with Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), they find Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Havok (Lucas Till), Darwin (Edi Gathegi), and Angel (Zoe Kravitz). During the course of the mission, Erik decides he wants things to end a certain way but Charles wants to do it peacefully. Can their difference find a way for success to complete the mission? My sources tell me that there are other first class missions in the works for our Mutant Heroes and also filming on “Wolverine 2” begins soon with Hugh Jackman.

Hanna - Things can always change when everything you were taught aren’t what you thought. Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) wasn’t the normal teenager at a first glance. Hanna’s Dad (Eric Bana) was an Ex-CIA Operative who had a mission that went bad and didn’t want to happen to her. After she gets a bit older, her Father leaves her and she deicides she must leave to find those that might want to hurt her or even her Father. She goes after an old colleague that her Dad worked with named Marissa (Cate Blanchett). Marissa knows she is coming and has to find out what she wants or even what her old partner really wants. Will Hanna complete her mission or is there something else at work here? Some other DVDs starring Bana include “Funny People,””Blackhawk Down,” and “Lucky You” (with Drew Barrymore).

Also on DVD

Fringe - There are always strange happenings going on in the World and someone has to investigate them. In the special “Fringe” chapter of the FBI, special agent Olivia Dunham is called in with her colleagues Peter (Joshua Jackson) and Walter Bishop (John Noble) when there is something that can’t quite be explained. In the third season opener, Olivia has been captured by the alternate dimension “Fringe” counterpoint and she must find a way home if she is to stop their plans. At the same time, the alternate “Walter” has plans for the good “Fringe” dimension and they are not good at all. Is Olivia going to find a way to stop him? Season 3 is now available on DVD with Season 1 and 2 available in stores now. Season 4 begins on the Fox network at 9 p.m. pm Friday, Sept. 23.

Two and a Half Men - One of the Toddster’s favorite shows and Season 8 is here. As we all know, Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) has always been successful and his life changes when his Brother Alan (Jon Cryer) needs his help along with his son Jake (Angus Jones). Alan moves in with him and now Charlie realizes that he has some people with him and may have to change his lifestyle for the people in his life. It may not be so easy as he thinks. During the Season 8 premiere, Jake moves back in with his mom and Stepdad and learns something shocking. His Dad is dating his best friend’s mother and it isn’t exactly something he likes. Also, Charlie tries to cut back on his drinking. How will Alan deal with Jake and Charlie? As everyone knows, Charlie Sheen has left the show and Ashton Kutcher will be joining the show beginning Monday, Sept. 19 but how will they do it? Stay Tuned!

A couple of shows coming around the corner is “Whitney” with comedian Whitney Cummings coming out on NBC Thursdays. One more show is “Charlie’s Angels coming from Executive Producer Drew Barrymore (who starred in the movie versions) and looks very good. This one will be on Wednesdays on ABC at 9. A little something new and old. It will be interesting to see how they do. Have a good one. The Toddster will see you later.
