Plymouth holds Community Days
PLYMOUTH – The Town of Plymouth is holding its 2nd Annual Community Days on Saturday and Sunday.
The event starts with a free dance with the Alderhollow a band led by Bruce Huggins at 7 p.m. Saturday; there will be refreshments to purchase, then continuing into Sunday, opening with a worship/memorial service for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. There will be something for everyone, crafters, bounce house, games for kids, face painting, antique cars and engines, animal displays with the Zoo Lady and Simpson's exotic pheasants, the historical society booth, horseshoe tournament, Chinese auction, Art Bennett & Pals Music and more. All events are free, there will be refreshments to purchase, from a pig roast to hamburgers and hot dogs and drinks.
Chairperson Linda Powell-Owens said this was an idea that started from a conversation at the Plymouth church ad board meeting about a way to thank the community for all the support the church receives. So she contacted the heads of the different groups in the community, the Watershed, Historical society, and the Old Mill Christian Life Fellowship church, the Plymouth Fire Dept. and the Town Board to join the Plymouth UMC church. “We met and decided it was something worth trying. It is a way not only to thank the community for the support they show for attending dinners, chicken barbecue and various other fundraiser these different committees do, but also to let those in the community know that we exist and to get more of the community to join or attend. Everyone can come a see for themselves what we are all about and try to relay the fact that they all are welcome to join,” she said.
