Marauders second in 30th annual tourney

SHERBURNE – At the 30th Annual S-E Field Hockey Tournament, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill built on a 1-0 halftime lead with four more goals in the second half in a 5-0 championship win over the host Marauders.
Five different players V-V-S players scored goals including all-tournament selections Brianna Roscoe and Ashley Palmer. “V-V-S is a very talented, fast team,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “We hung with them in the first half, but couldn’t contain them in the circle in the second half.”
The Marauders (1-1) advanced to the finals blanking Herkimer on Friday, 2-0. Both of S-E’s goals came in the second half with Taylor Jordan and Grace Dunshee tallying.
S-E hosts Morrisville-Eaton today.

Boys’ Soccer

S-E boys split
HAMILTON – At the 7th Annual Hamilton Optimist Club Tournament, S-E salvaged a third-place finish defeating Adirondack, 3-2, in the consolation game.
With 12 minutes remaining in regulation, Daniel Galvez scored the Marauders’ third goal of the game getting an assist from Sam Lagoe.
S-E grabbed a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals at the 15- and 20-minute marks of the first half. Nino Magro and Elijah Morris had goals before Adirondack battled back to tie the game.
In Friday’s opener, the host Emerald Knights dominated picking up a 6-0 shutout win over S-E. Devin Askew had a hat trick for Hamilton.
