SHERBURNE – Sherburne improved to 5-1-1 on the season picking up its fourth shutout in a victory over Canastota Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Trevor Bays tallied with 15 minutes left in regulation off a Carter Cole pass. “We were able to move the ball around quite a bit, but we’re still plagued by finishing,” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez. “We thought defense might be a weakness, but it’s holding strong and is now a strength.”
Sam Caton made three saves in goal for the Marauders.

Norwich 2, Afton 1 (OT)
NORWICH – Norwich withstood Afton’s strong push in the second half, and won for the first time this season beating the Crimson Knights Saturday evening.
Norwich earned a direct kick just outside the 18-yard box, and Billy Whaley’s boot caromed near the goal area. A clear attempt by an Afton defender went off Norwich’s Chris Trevisani and into the goal at 4:34 for the winner.
Afton controlled play much of the second half, and tied the game on Mark Viviano’s long direct kick with less than 20 minutes to play. “I think we were a little out of sync in the second half,” said Norwich coach Steve Prime. “We had played 2 1/2 really good games, and weren’t as intense as the last couple of games.”
