Boys' Soccer: Windsor blanks Norwich
Windsor 2, Norwich 0
NORWICH – Windsor’s Spencer Nagel won a race to the ball in the right corner of the 18-yard box, and knocked in the opening goal for Windsor in Monday night’s shutout win over Norwich.
Nagel tallied at the 20-minute mark, and teammate Nick Nikula scored on a scramble in front of the Norwich net with seven minutes remaining in the opening 40 minutes.
Norwich finished with five shots, and most of its offense was produced over the first 30 minutes of the second half. “We were a little slow in the first half, and not quite into the game yet,” said Norwich coach Steve Prime. “The second half was a different story, and we were in their half of the field quite a bit. We played about 50 minutes of good soccer, but not being able to score is tough.”
Norwich plays Greene on Friday in the Oxford tournament.

OXFORD – Leading 1-0 at the half, Oxford netted all three of its second-half goals in the first five minutes to earn its first win of the season on Monday.
Justin Schray had two goals – one a penalty kick – and controlled much of the midfield, said Oxford head coach Jim Champlin. Cameron Heggie added one goal, and Heggie set up Jake McConnell’s first tally of the season with a crossing passing to open the second-half scoring. “Our defensive backs and middle support were very good tonight,” Champlin said. “Austin ‘Boo’ Crandall was outstanding on the wing tonight to complement the usual job of Izard and Marks.”

McGraw 5, Otselic Valley 0
SOUTH OTSELIC – A powerful McGraw club scored two goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half, and added two more goals early in the second half in a shutout of the Vikings Monday.
“McGraw started to assert itself with solid passing after the first 10 minutes,” said OV coach Justin Barlow. “We tried to limit their better midfielder’s touches, but that only worked for so long. On our side, we had good hustle from some new defenders, Gaven Plummer and Alan Lewis. Our other positive was the strong midfield play of Mike Larkin and Brent Rasmussen.”
