SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville passed a big test against Center State Conference division newcomer Clinton Monday night.
Briana Vibbard, Sarah Cole, and Jordan Van Althuis scored first-half goals for the Marauders, who needed to withstand consistent offensive pressure from Clinton in the second half.
“The first half was probably the best we’ve played this season,” said S-E coach Kylie Davis. “Clinton definitely came back at us strong in the second half.”

NORWICH – Chenango Forks scored six of its goals after halftime, as it poured it on against a Norwich team that had just 11 healthy players and no substitutes available Monday afternoon.
Megan Plahanski scored four times for the Blue Devils, and Mariya Perheny had two goals in the win. Norwich plays Windsor on Wednesday.

AUBURN – Otselic Valley won a back-and-forth battle over Tyburn Academy rallying from a 3-2 deficit in the second half to pull out its second win of the season.
OV took a 2-1 lead early in the second half before goals by Lizzy Marek and Emily Weichert put the host team in front.
After OV tied the game, Nikki Olin scored with a left-footed shot from close range – her second goal of the game – with six minutes left to put OV ahead to stay. “It was a shootout and it was ugly,” said OV coach Kevin Springer, “but we’ll certainly take the win.”
Freshman Jordan Lidell also scored twice for OV (1-1, 2-2), who host DeRuyter tonight.

OXFORD – Oxford turned back Unatego’s comeback bid winning in five games Monday night, 25-21, 25-18, 12-25, 25-27, 25-17.
After Unatego rallied to tie the match with wins in the third and fourth games, Oxford established command in the final game when Kera Shepler served 10 straight points.
“Tonight’s game was an impressive competition,” said Oxford coach Kim Martin. “There were quite a few intense volleys, and both teams played very strong.”
Nicole Head had nine kills for Oxford, while Taylor Chapman, Olivia Roach, and Shepler all had five aces.
Kristin Quigley spearheaded the Unatego comeback with 11 straight serves in the third game. Arianna Lovejoy led the Spartans with 11 kills and seven aces.
Oxford is at B-G on Wednesday.
