Day named Rookie of the Week

ONEONTA – The State University of New York Athletic Conference has announced that Oneonta State freshman, Andrea Day (Greene/Greene) has been selected as the Player of the Week in the sport of field hockey.
Day helped lead Oneonta to a 2-0 week including an overtime win at New Paltz to open the SUNYAC portion of its schedule. Day ended the game versus the Hawks in the 88th minute to give the Red Dragons a 3-2 victory. The next day against Houghton, she assisted on the second goal of the game in a 3-1 Oneonta triumph.
Thus far, in her rookie season with the Red Dragons, Day has started all six games for the Red Dragons, who are currently 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC. She has registered three goals including two game-winners and two assists for eight points.
As a member of Greene’s high school field hockey team, Day played on the Trojans’ 2009 state championship team.
